CHOCOLATE SUPER SMOOTHIE

I'm finally addressing one of the most frequently asked questions that I get on instagram... "What is in your daily smoothie?"

If you follow me (which you should - shameless plug) you'll know that this smoothie is literally my favourite thing in the entire world and I am ADDICTED to it. I'm not kidding, I have been making it 4-5 times a week for the last 3 weeks and I'm not sick of it yet.. It's that good

Okay so why am I so obsessed with this one in particular? Well it's low in fruit and therefor low in sugar, full of tons of nutrients, fiber, plant based protein, secret veggies and contains superfoods and adaptogens which are totally optional but definitely recommended. It's also hormone and blood sugar balancing and the addition of the frozen veggies makes it SO thick and creamy! Did I mention that it's SUPER chocolatey and basically tastes like dessert? Because it is and it does - I can't even talk about it.. I might have to go whip one up right now.

PRO TIP: I add in two types of protein - half of a scoop of a plant based protein powder and 1 scoop of collagen peptides because I like to ensure that I am getting a complete protein and a full range of the essential amino acids to help with recovery post workout as well as to balance my hormones and blood sugar.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

1/2 of a frozen banana

1/2 cup loosely packed or 2 medium sized florets of steamed then frozen cauliflower (trust me)

1/3 cup or 2 disks of frozen zucchini (again trust me on this)

3-4 ice cubes 

2 cups fresh baby spinach

2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/4 cup filtered water

1.5 tbsp chia seeds

1 tbsp natural peanut butter

1/6 of an avocado 

0.5 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp cacao powder (can sub cocoa)

1/2 scoop plant based protein - I use Botanica Perfect Protein 

1 scoop of Vital Proteins chocolate blackberry collagen peptides 

OPTIONAL ADD IN'S

0.5 tbsp maca root powder - I like this one

1 tsp stress relief mushrooms - I like this one

MY TOPPINGS:

Botanica Organic goji berries

Raw walnuts

Purely Elizabeth choaolte peanut butter granola 

HOW TO:

1. Throw everything in your blender, start with the frozen stuff and ice first then add the rest in whatever order you choose.

2. Blend it up until it's nice and smooth! It's going to be THICK so you might have to scrape the sides down halfway through. 

3. Top with whatever you please or just eat it as is - this is a spoon kind of smoothie so don't even bother trying to drink it, you have to use a spoon.
